Protected Lands is the result of darkroom research after being awarded the Thomas George Artist Grant. Images of national and state parks across the United States are placed in inorganic shapes. The manipulations you see are done entirely in the darkroom with a process I developed called Geometric Dodging. I create a foldable mask allowing me to expose a single print multiple times, with each exposure I block light (AKA dodge) in specific areas of the print to create a sense of depth.
